Johnny Waller Obituary

Johnny Calvin Waller, 94, of Myrtle Creek passed away peacefully Friday August 8th, 2025 in his home in Myrtle Creek, Oregon and is in heaven with the Lord, his family and friends.

Johnny was born December 3, 1930 in the cotton fields of Potawatamee County, Indian Territory near Checotah, OK to Johnny Calvin Waller (SR) age 60m and Cora Pernell Waller (40). He was the last of 14 children, 6 girls and 8 boys.

Life was filled with long, hard working days helping their share-cropping dad "eke out" a living plowing behind 2 work horses only to spend the evenings tending gardens, cows, chickens and pigs.

Johnny's father passed at age 75 when he was 15. His brothers and sisters saw to it that he had the full scholastic education they did not. He was involved in music in many ways and school plays. Johnny had an experience with God that changed his life at age 8; and later he was called into God's service as a pastor, which he loved.

He went onto Northwest Bible College, met his wife Wilda Jean Hargis and jumped into evangelistic work immediately. Later they served pastorally in Ada, Madill, Ponca City and South Coffeyville, OK. where he helped build a youth center and had a weekly radio program. They had three children Rondall Calvin Waller (1950) Living in Ogden, Utah with wife Roslyn; Sondra Jean (Waller) DeBarr (1955) living in San Lorenzo, CA ( San Francisco Bay area), and Mitchell Dean Waller (1956) now residing in heaven, his wife is Dana (Comer) Waller. In 1964 they moved to California where they started churches in Pinole, Castro Valley and served in Fremont, CA. 

In 1977 he met and married Julie Jean (Hatfield-Faria) Waller and helped to raise het two children Jean O'Linda (Faria) Scism now living in Henderson, North Carolina with husband David; and Jill Patricia (Faria) Towner now living in Myrtle Creek, Oregon with husband Dean. Johnnt gad 5 children, 10 Grands and 23 Great Grands.

While in California he did special evangelistic work in Tulare and Hayward and a very special time serving in the New Testament Penticostal Holiness Church on Valencia in San Francisco, CA with Pastor Lively, quite and experience.

He and wife Julie of 28 years moved from the San Francisco Bay area to Hugo area of Grants Pass, Oregon in 1984 where they served/helped/attended Grants Pass Assembly of God (Pastor Webber); Grants Pass senior Christian singles group (Josephine Hull); Roseburg Church of God (Pastor Pooler); Renewed ministries (Pastor Sizemore); Assembly of God of Myrtle Creek (Pastor Marson); Church of God of Myrtle Creek (Pastors Mallard and Phillips) Harvest Christian Assembly (Pastor Wallen) and Winston Assembly of God (Pastor Lindley).

There will be a celebration of life for Johnny at the Winston Assembly Church, 360SE Darrell ave., Winson, OR October 4, 2025, Saturday at 2:00 in his early Oklahoma style. Since the Sanctuary was his Holy Place, he would like to you wear "Happy" clothes and bring any instrument you play. Rythm or otherwise.. Lets have fun
