Shirley Lathrop, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2025, in Myrtle Creek, Oregon, at the age of 88.
Born on September 4, 1937, in John Day, Oregon, Shirley lived a life full of love, laughter, and adventure. She cherished traveling with her sister Bertha Buschmann, brother Paul Parret, and sister-in-law Janice Parret, creating memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Shirley found joy in simple pleasures—especially playing BINGO and cribbage, which brought her countless hours of fun and connection.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Miller, and her second husband, Phil Lathrop. Shirley’s legacy continues through her loving family: sons Arnold (Shelly Jostad) Miller, Barry (Jana) Miller, and Elmer (Julieanne) Miller; daughters Lois Cullup and Bernice (Mike) Anderson; grandchildren Douglas Page, Heather Page, Ashley (Barnett) Palmer, Logan Anderson, Alicia (Mike) Roy, Hayden (Kayla Anderson) Miller, Kelsi Miller, and Brittany Miller; and nine great-grandchildren.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Shelly for her devoted care and compassion during Shirley’s final days. Your love and support meant the world to her and to all of us.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 11th at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Riddle. A private graveside service will follow at a later date with immediate family.
Shirley will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her warmth, humor, and unwavering love for her family.
Care has been entrusted to Mountain View Memorial Chapel.
