William Dale Miller, affectionately known as "Little Bill" and "Grape Ape" to family and friends, passed away in the early hours of the morning on February 14, 2025 in Roseburg, Oregon at the age of 68.
Born on May 31, 1956 in Dallas, Oregon, Bill was a devoted husband, father, and friend. He graduated from Roseburg High School where he played football in 1974 before serving in the United States Air Force.
Bill met and married the love of his life, Bonni, in 1977. Bill and Bonni went on to have two children.
Bill's larger-than-life personality, infectious laugh, and generous spirit touched countless lives. He was big brother, dad, grandpa, and friend to everyone he met. He was known for generosity and giant heart. His giving nature knew no bounds. Bill was passionate about motorcycles, the Oregon Ducks, and lumberjack sports.
Through the years, Bill participated in lumberjack competitions and exhibitions all over the world at championship levels, but none was more dear to him than The Big John Miller Memorial West Coast Lumberjack Show.
In 2018, Bill retired from Roseburg Forest Products and jumped into living his dream of being an indulgent Booka and Baboo to his "grands".
Bill volunteered with the Oregon South Coast Patriot Guard Riders escorting fellow veterans to their final resting places every chance he could. He believed in honoring military service members and their families.
Bill will be deeply missed by his loving family: his wife Bonni; children Robin & Heidi; grandchildren Schuyler, Greyson, & River; and siblings Eddie, Jeff, Cathy, Monty, Dan, David, Debbie, & Jay. He is preceded in his passing by his mother, Leann Stuck; Father, John Miller; and siblings Richard, David, and Carol.
Final interment will take place at the Roseburg National Cemetery on March 5, 2025 at 2 PM. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Ride for 22 or America's Gold Star Families.
Rest in peace, dear Bill. Your love, legacy, and memory will never fade.
Care has been entrusted to Mountain View Memorial Chapel.
